Competitive Edge Camps

New camp is A-OK
January 21st, 2009

As previously announced, LinemenInc is opening a new camp this summer in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  It may only be January and with one remaining football game left to this season, you might think now is the time to kick back.  Not so, my friends!  Now is the time to prepare for the future, to make plans and execute them!

Just ask Tyler Kiel of Fishers High School, Fisher, Indiana, or Daniel Paiva of Brownfield High School, Brownfield, Texas, or perhaps Casey Fowler of Aledo High School, Aledo, Texas.  These three young men have already invested in their futures by being not only the first to register for a 2009 LinemenInc Camp but by being the very first to register for Oklahoma!  Welcome aboard gentlemen, we look forward to having you in camp.

Who else is going to be at LinemenInc Oklahoma?  While we are still assembling our coaching staff, I can tell you that Coach Micah Nall of Central Oklahoma University, Coach Monterio Witherspoon of Langston University, and Coach Grant Myers of Tabor College, are already committed and anxious for summer to arrive.  Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today, get registered!

SPECIAL NOTE:  LinemenInc cofounder, Dave Reinders and I will have a booth at several coaching clinic’s over the next couple of months.  Please stop by and say hello if you will be attending the Nor Cal All Sports Clinic, Burlingame, Ca., January 29-31, Frank Glazier Mega Clinics, Tulsa, Ok., February 5-7, Santa Clara, Ca., February 27-28, or Costa Mesa, Ca., March 5-7.  You’ll want to pick up your free copy of the new poster and promotional DVD.  In Tulsa, you may also want to drop in on our clinic, “Coaching Today’s Lineman”.  Dave will also being talking about long snapping, a much overlooked part of the game.

Whatever your plans, stay focused and persistent!

Welcome! And camp dates too!
December 15th, 2008

A big welcome to all new visitor’s to our web site!  We recently announced the opening of our new camp in Oklahoma, via a mass mailer to all Oklahoma high schools.  I am hopeful that coaches will take a moment to check us out and see what LinemenInc is all about.  So, welcome to all visitor’s from Oklahoma!

The Oklahoma LinemenInc Camp will be held at St. Gregory’s University, in Shawnee, Ok. June 30 through July 2.  Cost for camp is only $295 per player and includes the three day camp, dorm room, meals and practice jersey, which is the players to keep.  For more information simply click on the “Oklahoma” button at the top of the page.

Coaches for Oklahoma:  Already committed to attend the Oklahoma camp are Monterio Witherspoon – Langston University, Micah Nall – University of Central Oklahoma.  Hoping to attend but waiting final off season schedules:  Darrell Funk – Ball State University, Gary Bernardi – UNLV and Rob Sarvis – South Dakota State University.

Stockton camp:  University of the Pacific, Stockton, Ca. June 19-21.  Coaches to be announced.

Long Beach camp:  University of California, Long Beach, June 24-26.  Coaches for Long Beach:  Gary Bernardi – UNLV, Josh Darnell – Azusa Pacific University.  Many others to be added.

Three great camps gentlemen.  Plan ahead so as not to be caught short by the economy.  Fundraising should begin now and not later for all of your camps and off season needs.  Check out our fundraising page for some helpful ideas.  LinemenInc is holding its 2008 pricing for all 2009 camps.  So have a great and productive off season!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Photos Are Up! And a Bit More…
November 21st, 2008

Finally!  The photos from LinemenInc 2008 have been posted and individual shots can even be purchased if you so desire.  However, the photos cannot be located in the usual way.  In the past we have had a button marked “photos” for you to click on.  That button is gone as is the “registration” button.  In their place you will now find three new buttons: Long Beach, Stockton and Oklahoma.  Each of these buttons represents the individual camp listed and everything associated with that camp.

By clicking on the individual camp button, you will find the photos from just that camp.  You will also find camp dates, camp directions and the registration form for that individual camp.  You may also note some other changes as you navigate around the web site.  The promotional video on the home page has been revamped and improved, check it out.  The “alumni” button has been replaced by “Coaching Alumni”.  This is where you will find a list of all the college coaches who have worked the LinemenInc Camps.  Newly added, you will also find a video with some of our coaches talking about their LinemenInc Camp experience on this page.

We hope you will enjoy these changes and find that they provide you with more information in a quicker format.  LinemenInc is constantly working to improve both on the field and off, providing our customers with the best experience possible.  We are not satisfied to simply be the only camp of it’s type west of the Mississippi.  We strive to be the best camp west of the Mississippi.

Please take some time to look around and explore our improvements and feel free to leave your comments, the good, the bad and even the ugly!

Another Grab Bag
November 5th, 2008

As the season is winding down a number of thoughts are coming to mind.  Some of it is just things that are long overdue and need handling.  Let’s start with photos!  I know many of you who attended camp are still looking for the camp photos, as well you should.  Some may have already given up hope but don’t despair, we are on it.  A couple of things have happened to delay their posting: First, we had over 1000 photos from both camps combined to go through!  It took forever!  Second, we are revamping our web site as we speak.  In the very near future, each camp will have it’s own page including camp photos, news about just that camp and it’s own registration form.  We’re very excited about the changes, so please bear with us.

OKLAHOMA!  Yes, LinemenInc is most definitely coming to Oklahoma, for the summer of 2009!  This is a huge undertaking with many risks but we believe the mid-west needs this type of individual training and we’re proud to provide it.  Dave and I will have a booth at the Tulsa, OK. Frank Glazier Mega Clinic, February 4-7, 2009.  If you are planning on attending, please stop by and say hello, so we might introduce you to our camp.  The Oklahoma camp will be held at St. Gregory’s University, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, just 30 miles east of Oklahoma City.  We’re still working on the dates but it looks like the very end of June, first of July.  Keep your calenders open, guys!

The current economic forecasts isn’t a very bright one.  Everyone is having to tighten their belts these days and we understand that.  We believe that LinemenInc provides a unique product to a select group of people; the high school lineman.  We also believe that poor planning precludes a possible failure.  That is to say, plan now for your future, so as to not be let down when your future arrives.  It’s like getting in the weightroom every week during the off season to be prepared for the season.  Start your fundraising now for your summer camps, seven months from now.  Waiting until spring in this economy will only ensure disappointment later.

Web Site Improvements:  Along with some of the changes already mentioned, look for an updated camp video on the main home page, as well as a new video of college coaches testimonials.  These top rated coaches took the time at the end of camp this year to express their thoughts on camp and the product we are putting forth.  These improvements should be completed by months end.

Yes, the season maybe winding down but many other things are just gearing up.  The best of luck to all of you with what’s left of your season!  Whether you are playing for a playoff berth or just pride, always make your best effort and never quit.  Remember, for the Gladiators of old, to quit meant surrender and death.  “The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.” - Vince Lombardi

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Stockton Rocks!
July 1st, 2008

Over 165 players and coaches made the trip to LinemenInc 2008, Stockton this past weekend.  They were all treated to an uncommonly cool breeze, tons of good food and an abundance of skills, techniques, brotherhood and competition.  Our coaching staff came from the University of Nevada, Reno, South Dakota State University, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Menlo College, Shasta College, American River College, Los Medanos College and former NFL standout and now retired Stanford Coach, Dave Tipton.

Attending high school coaches received four classroom clinics and practical hands on coaching on the field.  At night, we were all treated to guest speakers discussing motivation, grades, SAT scores, getting into a college program and life choices.  The 10 PM pizza’s were a great way to finish out the day!  At the Gladiator Championships we saw some very fierce battles, tons of competition and an entire camp exploding with excitment.  It was truly a great way to finish out this camp season.

What’s ahead?  How about LinemenInc Oklahoma!  We are currently doing all the work to try and make this happen for summer, 2009.  Peter Van Pelt and his son, Wade, of Oswasso, OK. attended the Stockton camp and believe LinemenInc is just the ticket for high school linemen in Oklahoma.  Keep your fingers crossed Pete and Wade…

To all of you who made the trip, whether it be to Long Beach or Stockton, you know what you have accomplished and what you now need to do.  Every day you are provided with opportunities to improve and advance on the comptetition.  The question remains the same, wiil you step up and take hold of the opportunity or will you let it pass you by?  Will you apply all that you have learned and now carry in your tool belt or simply resort to the same old way of doing business?  You and you alone are in control of your future.

A shout out to former LinemenInc participant, Kyle Quinn, who at this very moment is at the University of Arizona, beginning his college football career on a full ride.  His Wildcats will face off against Arizona State’s Sun Devil’s and former LinemenInc participant, Mike Marciz, later this year.  Congrats to both!

Have a great summer guys!  Have an awesome season!

Long Beach in the Books
June 24th, 2008

Long Beach campers were welcomed by LinemenInc staff and a Southern California heat wave for this years camp.  Over 140 players and coaches were in attendance this year.  College coaches from UNLV, Whittier College, Azusa Pacific University and University of Redlands put both players and coaches through their paces.  High school and youth football coaches were treated to four classroom clinics that included drill structure, lecture, film cut-ups and discussion.  On the field they rotated between all four stations receiving hands on coaching in a live situation.

Players were motivated to learn and perform from sun up to sun set.  The camp moved at a great pace and players were continually challenged.  Off the field, all took advantage of the great food served by the California State University, Long Beach cafeteria staff and the “all you can eat” approach to meals.  The only thing better than LinemenInc Long Beach?  Another LinemenInc Camp of course!

On to LinemenInc Camp, Stockton this coming weekend.  And oh!  You big boys in the mid-west, keep checking back as LinemenInc is currently looking to open a third camp for the summer of 2009, in Oklahoma!  Is the mid-west ready for the most intense three days of their lives?

Keep checking back for photos from camp which we hope to have posted by the end of July.
